What to know
Tolls and vignettes
Automatic by number plate everywhere: register your plate with EPC (Euro Parking Collection) before you go or expect invoices. Vans under 3.5 t pay the car rate, about €2–10 a toll; the fjord ferries charge separately and add up.
Clean air zones
Oslo and Bergen have 'environmental differentiated' tolls: diesel vans pay more. No sticker.
Sleeping in the van
Allemannsretten: you may stay on uncultivated land at least 150 m from a dwelling for up to two nights, if the ground takes a vehicle. Rest areas are for a night. Lofoten has signed bans in the honeypots.
Kit you must carry
Warning triangle, hi-vis vest. Dipped headlights always on. Winter: winter tyres and chains if over 3.5 t.
Speed limits, van under 3.5 t
110 (mostly 100) / 80 / 50
